Are you, or is someone you know, a genetic counselor who is ready to take on a leadership position that directly impacts our profession? ABGC is seeking an individual to fill one open spot on the 2024 ABGC Board of Directors.
Nomination Criteria
- Nominees must be board certified for a minimum of five (5) years.
- Leadership experience in the profession or leadership contributions in other venues or communities.
- Experience in the management or supervision of an individual or team of GC professionals
- Change agent who will critically think about issues/processes and promote improved organizational effectiveness of ABGC
- Strong and diplomatic communicator who can speak to all audiences effectively
- Innovative thinker who is able to analyze an issue from multiple viewpoints
- Dedication to the advancement of the genetic counseling profession
Experience with strategic initiatives, leading teams, and/or innovative contributions to the genetic counseling profession are also preferred.

How to Submit a Nomination
Nominations for the ABGC Board of Directors can be submitted in two ways: as a self nomination or by nominating a colleague or peer.
Self nominations are requested by June 27, 2023 and must include the Board Nomination Application Form and a copy of your updated curriculum vitae (CV)
For colleague or peer nominations, please submit his/her/their name by June 14, 2023 by completing the Nominee Recommendation form. The Executive Office will contact those nominees to confirm their interest in serving on the Board and give them time to complete and submit the Personal Statement Form.
A slate of candidates will be chosen by the Nominating Committee to present to Diplomates for election. The election will take place in August 2023 for the open position with a four-year term to begin January 1, 2024.
